Born in November of 1983, Shadow64 is Danny Mastrangelo of San Jose, California.
As a graduate of Bellarmine College Preparatory ('02) and Santa Clara University ('06), Danny most recently finished a year long contract at Sony Computer Entertainment of America (SCEA) located in Foster City. It was a lot of fun.
Danny took an early interest in gaming and in 1992, when Squaresoft released Final Fantasy IV for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System, he became hooked on RPGs. Several years would pass before Square would release their next American FF title, Final Fantasy VI. Danny fell in love with the game's lengthy storyline, large cast of characters and array of complex side quests. His favorite character, Shadow, would later become the inspiration for his online identity: Shadow64.
A lifelong writer, Danny has kept some form of journal since he was nine years old. Over time he has written several plays, screenplays, short stories and poems. Although he enjoys all forms of literature, stage plays are his form of choice when setting pen to paper. During his time at Santa Clara University, he took the opportunity to take as many classes in playwriting as he possibly could. After a lot of reading and even more writing, he strongly believes that Len Jenkin's play "Dark Ride" is the most perfect show he's ever read.
In the late 90s, Danny began to take guitar lessons. After four years, Danny stopped taking lessons, but continued to play and compose his own music. He furthered his knowledge of musical instruments in his senior year at Santa Clara when he studied piano under Hans Boepple. From time to time, using ModPlug Tracker, FruityLoops, or Adobe Encore, Danny records his own music. Some recordings are better than others.
Years of art classes, doodling, and more recently photography have thrown Danny into the world of fine art. When he gets the chance he enjoys graphic design, photography, cartooning and painting.
In the fall of 1998, Danny purchased the name Shadow64.net and since then, one version or another of the site has been public. The site serves as both an online portfolio and an open canvas for his creativity. He hopes that you enjoy it and tell others.
